File format is the specific format
in which an image file is saved. The format is identified by the
three letter extension at the end of the file name. Every file format
has its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages.

It's Good to Know
- General File Format Information:
Different image file formats are capable of holding
different quantities of colors. Each file format will have a reference
to the number of "bits per pixel" that the format is capable
of supporting. The higher the bits per pixel, the sharper and more
vivid the image will appear, and also the larger the image file
size will be. You will want to select different formats in which
to save your images based on how the image will be transported,
viewed and saved. LEADViEW automatically optimizes your image to
look it's best in any bits per pixel you choose!
1 bit per pixel refers to an image with 2 colors.
4 bits per pixel refers to an image with up to 16 colors.
8 bits per pixel refers to an image with up to 256 colors.
16 bits per pixel refers to an image with up to 32,768 colors.
24 bits per pixel refers to an image with up to 16,777,216 colors.
